A Foster Care Journey

By Danielle Sinon

Two Ways Home

Staying with a new family for a while can be a scary experience. Children in foster care, both young and old, can find it difficult to adjust when entering their new home. It can be daunting but also exciting –– after all, it’s a sort of adventure!

This is exactly how Levi feels about going to live with Keith and Liz. In our newest release, “Two Ways Home: A Foster Care Journey,” 10-year-old Levi shares his experience of going from one foster home to another and learning to live with a new family. He knows how hard it can be to make this transition, so he wants to help other kids just like him! Levi talks about his new brothers and sisters, some of whom are also in foster care, joining a new school, and having appointments with his caseworker, Ana.

Filled with vibrant watercolor illustrations, “Two Ways Home” is the perfect picture book for families hoping to start their own foster care journeys, kids who are just entering the foster care system, or those children who are familiar with the process, but moving to another new family. With help from a child narrator, foster children can understand the system in more relatable terms and feel more comfortable with their new foster family situation.

The author, Marion Rhines, is the president of the Tennessee Foster and Adoptive Care Association and is a foster/adoptive parent. “Two Ways Home: A Foster Care Journey” is available as an e-book on Amazon for only $0.99! The paperback will be released on June 7, 2019 and will be available for $19.95.
